Testing Communications

Step 1 - Wireless Network Setup

Now that you have downloaded the Arduino IDE and Adafruit WiFi library you are ready to test communications with your WiFi network. This tutorial makes a couple of assumptions regarding your setup:

  • You have a wireless network with an access point or router
  • Your wireless devices receive IP addresses from the access point or router via DHCP
  • You have secured your wireless network with a WPA2 wireless encryption password
  • You know the password of your wireless network
ASUS RT-N16 router

In our case we are using an ASUS RT-N16 wireless router that has been configured to give out IP addresses in the 10.0.0.0 network range. We have secured our network using WPA2 encryption with a wireless password of CCSGuest1234. The SSID, or name, of the wireless network is CCS-Guest.
